What did you enjoy about this project?

What I enjoyed the most about this project was getting a better look at some of Trinity's athletic history. We all know Trinity is a great school academically but the success of Trinity's sports programs has been somehwat under the radar and this allows for more interesting information to be presented and displayed to the public.

What surprised you about this project?

I was surprised at how much information and data I found in regards to a number of topics, even outside of the topic I ultimately decided on. Trinity has great resources to make it easier to find historical data and facts specific to the University itself. Another thing that surprised me was how much I actually enjoyed researching and learning about the Trap and Skeet team. Trap and Skeet is fairly new grounds for me.

What was the most challenging aspect of the project, and how did you manage it?

The most challenging aspect of the project was by far the research process as a whole as well as organizing and managing the information once it was gathered. Going back to find peice by peice of needed or desired information was very time consuming but it was also very interesting and worth it. Considering this was my first time using the omeka.net sites, there was a bit a of an adjustment period but got the hang of it after working on the project extensively.

If you could start over, what would you do differently?

If I could start over I might try and go with a different reserach topic. I really enjoyed researching the Trinity Trap and Skeet team but I would also like to challenge myself to research more sports and athletics that I dont necesarilly know much about. There is a great deal of sport history in relation to Trinity University and I would love to learn more about the success that Trinity has seen regarding those sports.

What did you learn about history and/or the history process through this project?

I learned a significant amout from this project and the history process. Coming up with a topic and doing the following research is the number one concern when it comes to a project like this. If the topic or research is not legitmate or doesnt come back with enough relevent information then it's back to square one. I found that out the hard way by changing what I was going to research a couple times before eventually finalizing what I was going to do. It crazy to think back on the days where Trinity Univesity didnt have a specific major sports team or that a sports team might have been competing in a different division or in a different conference and so on.

What did you learn through this project that can be applied to life outside the classroom?

What I learned through this project that can be applied to life outside the classoom would be improving my researching skills and putting together a public exhibit on a website/format that was brand new to me. Time managment is extremely important when doing a semester project like this and keeping up with the work and check-in allow you be in a better position for success. One big thing that I'll take with me that I learned from this project is how much of an impact one person can have on a community as well as the importance of teaching and passing on knowledge and information.
