The Bell Center completed largely to the influence of President Ron Calgaard

The 1990s saw extreme advances in technology, with the World Wide Web and other phenomenons emerging and improving to advance throughout the decade. These innovations and movements were all considered factors in shaping the sports realm both at the collegiate and professional levels. With a focus on the college side of sports, this exhibit describes the specific athletic facility improvements made at Trinity University during this time. Through the narrative of President Ron Calgaard, it’s easy to see that he established the Bell Center into its known form today and how it has affected the success of Trinity’s athletic programs and sports communities. Arguably, without the improvements enacted by individuals like President Ron Calgaard, Trinity University’s Athletic Facility Center (Bell Center) would not have its current top tier status or the ability to elevate the institution’s athletic programs. In addition, these improvements changed the type of athletes that would play here at Trinity; division three players were student-athletes thinking about an education and a life after college. This culture change ultimately became a great decision for Trinity athletics and the University as a whole.
