You can see some students utilizing the old weight room here in the 1960's.

Even though the old weight room saw its bright days in the 1960's, it progressively got worse for people trying to use it. Here, we can see what looks like a pretty useful amount of space and equipment to use for people at the school. However, the space and equipment were not expanded on or upgraded over the course of time leading up to the later 1980's which became a real issue. There was a fitness wave that was sweeping the country at this time for colleges especially as more and more programs were upgrading facilities and offering recruits the best possible situations coming in for success. Following in the ways of colleges around the rest of the country, Trinity knew it was time to take action as well. They recognized that the bowling alley was becoming a less than ideal space for the school and it hit them that this was the perfect amount of space to host a real weight room. They would have sufficient space for real racks, free weights, and new equipment that was not possible while the tiny weight room area was held in Sam's Gym. Things were going to start looking much different than what we see in this displayed picture. Moreover, Trinity would set themselves up for great athletic potential with this new move to bring in the best athletes possible.
