Conclusion

Trinity University

Trinity University is a great academic school that gives Division III athletes opportunities to play the sports they love, but strictly in that order. Trinity University has a record of being a top tier academic university, and focusing on extracurricular things such as athletics and fan support is simply not what makes Trinity one of the best schools in the nation. The argument I made in this paper is not to say that Trinity’s lack of sports fandom is an inherently bad thing. Rather, it is an analysis of what influences collegiate sports fans to attend football games, and how organizational efforts can either hinder or enhance the efforts fans make to grow a fan community. Unfortunately, there simply was not enough camaraderie when it came to football during Trinity’s mediocre period in the 1980s. However, there are still plenty of alumni who still have Tiger fever, I believe those feelings were influenced during the nineties as Trinity’s football team was very successful. Students were able to express themselves by identifying with Trinity football’s new winning ways and allowing that to define their Trinity careers. Although Trinity does not have the track record of fandom, it is located in Texas, and in Texas football tends to be more religion than past-time. There have been, and will always be, students at Trinity who truly love the game and were willing to try and create a community around football and sport. However, without the administration’s support, it was hard to have the entire student body to adopt that same sentiment.
