McKinley the Student

In the classroom, McKinley’s hard work carried over as he tackled a difficult major in mathematics. If it were not for two semesters that McKinley took off for the Davis Cup, he would have graduated in four years. This is extremely impressive for how much he was traveling. Bob McKinley reflected on his brother as a good student with a GPA just above a 3.0. However, he also mentioned that academics were not something that necessarily came naturally for him. While he had a God-given gift with the racquet, his education was something that he had to work hard to achieve. He did exactly that. Just as his brother Bob McKinley did, Chuck’s teammate Butch Newman remembered the tennis star as being a good student, and applying himself at all times.
