After Trinity
Foregoing his senior baseball season, Upshaw declared for the draft and was drafted 21st overall, in the first round, to the Cleveland Browns in the 1968 NFL Draft (Pils, 2014). After only spending two seasons with the Cleveland Browns, Upshaw went on to play six seasons for the Kansas City Chiefs and concluded his career with one season for the Arizona Cardinals (Pils, 2014). During his career, Upshaw returned to Trinity and was albe to finish his degree with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education in 1970 (Hall of Fame, 2001). After finishing his career in the NFL at the age of 30, Upshaw moved to Oakland, California. Upshaw returned back to Trinity in 2001 for his induction into the Trinity University Hall of Fame (Hall of Fame, 2001).
