Reflection

What did you enjoy about this project?

I enjoyed learning more about an important part of Trinity University: TUWS. The women's soccer program here brings a lot of attention to the school and I was excited to learn more about where it started and how it became so dominate.

What surprised you about this project?

The thing that surprised me the most about this project was that the program is much younger than I expected it to be. It has only been around for a little over 25 years and I expected it to have been older for how strong the team has been for so long. It just shows how quickly the team became a powerhouse and how impressive their success truly was and is.

What was the most challenging aspect of the project, and how did you manage it?

The most challenging aspect of the project was definitely setting up the interviews and getting first hand accounts of the TUWS team. It was frustrating not being able to talk to the interviewees face-to-face, but I was still able to conduct good interviews with the interviewees via email and text. I just did the best with what I had at my disposal and it worked out.

If you could start over, what would you do differently?

If I could start over I would try to work harder to set up video interviews. I feel like I would have benefited from that a little more than the text. I would have gotten a better sense of the personalities of those involved and that might have added more flair to the project.

What did you learn about history and/or the historical process through this project?

I learned that the whole process is extremely in-depth, at least it should be if one is doing it correctly. Finding data and information over specific topics and looking through old newspaper clippings can be time consuming and frustrating, but you just have to be patient and you'll find some great sources of info.

What did you learn through this project that can be apploed to life outside the classroom?

I learned that patience and persistence go hand-in-hand. You need to not get so frustrated when times get tough and just take a deep breath instead, understand that the process/journey can be just as important as the destination. The process teaches you a lot about who you are and how you need to handle frustrating situations.
