About the team

There are many college programs around the United States that have their men’s and women’s teams practice and compete separately. Trinity’s swim program is not one of them. While coaching at SMU, Coach Ryan was responsible for the women’s program only. Despite taking an unranked team to an NCAA top ten finished in three years, it was the reason he left to take the head men’s and women’s coaching position at Wesleyan. He felt intuitively that both teams would benefit from the others presence, and that belief was realized at Wesleyan. Coach Ryan continued that tradition from “day one” at Trinity, setting the stage for much of the Tigers success during his 25-year tenure. Coed practice sessions, dual meets, team travel, end-of-season championships, meals at Mabee, frequent socializing, and lasting friendships are all part of what has made Trinity Swimming special.
