Where it started
In the fall semester of 1992, John Ryan was brought over after a completing a successful career coaching Wesleyan Universtiy. Coach Ryan met with 40 students who were interested in swimming collegiately, and said to them, "everything we do will be historic." He coud not have predicted a truer outcome.
While Coach Ryan was Head Coach at Trinity University, he saw his women's team win 17 of 19 SCAC championship titles, where there were 14 consectutive wins from 2004-2017. His men's team earned 10 SCAC championship titles. In addition to SCAC, Coach Ryan accompanied 24 of his athletes while they earned All-American awards. Coach Ryan was also named SCAC Coach of the Year honors 15 times.
