Roy Emerson won Wimbledon this year in a dominant doubles performance with Rod Laver. He was another Australian who would go down as one of the greatest players ever. 

This era was dominated by Australian players. Australia was known for producing outstanding tennis players, and so the biggest tournaments in the world tended to be won by Australian players, with some exceptions.
