Reflection

I have learned a lot from the historical research process for this project. I have learned a lot of interesing things about Trinity Universty and about the history is shown and learned around the world in general. The process has shown me that history definitely repeats itself. Some of the issues and events that were going on at Trinity decades ago are happening again today. Another interesting thing about the historical process was to see how the history of the school has shaped it the way it is today. It is interesting to compare how the school was in the past to how it is now and see how the school has changed. It is also interesting to think that all of these events are happening at the same school with the same buildings as today. Something else I realized about the historical research process was how different history can be depending on who you talk to. After the interview, I realized how different of a feeling and story you can get about history based on who or what you are learning from. When I was doing research about the school around the time of the switch to D3 I had a different idea about how it went than what Butch Newman told me. The primary sources I looked like made it seem like the school was in an outrage about the switch and that it was a horrible decision. Butch Newman told me a different story about the switch. He told me that the switch was great for the program and he gave me great reasons on why the school decided to make the switch. This just shows how history is dependent on who is writing or telling it.
