1965 Team was founded by two first year students who shared, along with families who had been stationed in Germany, a love for soccer. Ron Pritz & Charlie Wheelus were their names, and they can be attributed as the founders of the Trinity Soccer program we know today. They held a meeting in a Bell Center classroom with about a dozen interested students who had shown up to hear more. Only one upperclassman, to their surprise, showed up and perhaps even more surprisingly was the lack of International students. In stark contrast to the failed 1959 team, this squad was comprised entirely of Americans. Pritz recalled “in those days very few Americans played soccer.  Guys from Pre Schools in the East may have played and guys from St. Louis, MO may have played.  Other than that soccer in the US was almost exclusively an "ethnic" sport.” Some of the guys they did get had never even played before. Practices initially showed that the team was comprised of some good athletes, but not many with good soccer technique. However, all were eager to form a team and compete.
