Trinity Culture

Today, football in Texas is like a religion to some people. Every Saturday and Sunday in the fall, thousands of households across the state tune in to collegiate and professional football games. Diehard fans pack the stadiums to watch their favorite teams compete. It is so rooted in Texas culture that people devote their entire weekends to the sport. However, in 1989 at Trinity University, this level of fandom was nowhere to be found. Football was an afterthought for most students at the school. Many of the students at the time were more focussed on academics and other interests, such as music, dance, and theatre.
