Introduction

The LeeRoy name has proven to be well remembered throughout the history of Trinity University. From the 1950's into the 1970's, Trinity was host to one of the largest mascots around: LeeRoy the tiger! As the use of live mascots was starting to sweep the nation, this University decided to follow the trend and did it with style.

Since the first time LeeRoy was introduced to campus, he brought the crowd to their feet. Excitement, comradery, and a sense of pride overcame the university. LeeRoy proved that even though sports alone create a huge following, a live mascot can just spice up the excitement that much more. LeeRoy watched football games and other campus events only adding to the spectacle that they already were. Although Trinity does not still have a live Bengal tiger, Leeroys presence is still felt across the campus through memories, archives, and tributes.

This exhibit will display the beauty and might LeeRoy exposed through his countless appearances on campus. This exhibit will be insightful and meaningful, housing priceless photos and knowledge from people that experienced the times of LeeRoy. Follow along and pay close attention as the timeline of LeeRoy the Bengal tiger will guide you through his reign at Trinity. He is well remembered as an important piece of Trinity history and traditions, showing how his acquisition changed the Trinity environment for years. The exhibit shows his life as a member of the Trinity community and how he changed Trinity for the better.
