Through the usage of Title IX Peggy Kokernot was able to create the Women's Track team at Trinity University in 1974. Title IX is a portion of the United States Education Amendments of 1972 which states that, “no person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance” (Wikipedia, 2017).

With Peggy Kokernot's determination to create the Women's Track team it made other female Trinity students want to create teams of their own. Now in 2017 we have both women and men teams in every major sport, along with many teams in other obscure sports.

Title IX was creatd for strong women such as Peggy to strive for equality among the sexes, and as of today our Univeristy is much better off in this aspect thanks to her.
