The Key Tiger Players

When asked about the standout players on the historic 1972 and 1973 teams, Paul Batista noted, “What we really had, was some really good pitching. Our number two, three, and four starters, pitched in the big leagues” (Batista). The Tigers had four top notch starting pitchers, who lead the team to most of their victories. Mike Bacsik, Ricky and Mickey Mahler, and Paul Stanley were able to limit opponents to just a few runs per game, always giving the Tigers a chance to win. Three of these starters went on the Major League Baseball careers, further showing just how impressive Trinity's progeam was. On the offensive side of the ball, Trinity was led by third baseman Billy Daffin and outfielder and first baseman Tommy Crumrine. These hitters supplied the offense for Trinity, collecting accolades along the way. This may have been the most impressive roster of players in Trinity baseball history, and it shows in what they were able to accomplish.
