Reflection

What did you enjoy about this project?

This project was very interesting and was a very big learning experience for me. I was able to learn about the new resources of research like The Trinitonian and The Mirage. Both of these were able to give me articles and pictures that gave me great information and I am glad that I was able to access them. I also really enjoyed the interview process because I was able to talk to and learn from two of some of the greatest members of the school’s tennis program.

What surprised you about this project?

Before doing this project, I had no idea how incredible the history of Trinity’s tennis program was. I was shocked by how at one point in time, the best tennis players in the world were all on one university’s team.

What was the most challenging aspect of this project, and how did you manage it?

The most challenging aspect of this project was to pick one topic about the program and narrow it down to be as specific as possible without leaving other important topics. Fortunately, I was able to pick two decades two talk about and still managed to talk about many important parts of the program.

If you could start over, what would you do differently?

If I could start over, I would only pick one specific event, like the Superbowl of tennis, in order to fulfill the requirements of a specific topic. I would then do more research, but specifically for that match.

What did you learn about history and/or the historical process through this project?

I was able to learn about the great players, coaches, teams, and events in the history of the university’s program.

What did you learn through this project that can be applied to life outside the classroom?

More people can be aware of the school’s incredible program and admire it for what it really is. This could also create inspiration for future players who want to play at Trinity, and it may drive them to try and recreate the strength of the program.
