Sport: The Ultimate Equalizer
In terms of sport ultimately allowing Darsh to be a part of history, basketball provided great opportunity. Although discrimination holds its own in sports, “basketball is the ultimate equalizer,” said Darsh (Singh, D. 2018). In evidence of the power of sport, Casey Hill recalls getting to learn so much about Darsh and his religion through being his teammate. While sport is so often a microcosm of society, thus exploiting social issues, it also provides an escape from daily challenges of life, catalyzes personal connection, and plays a large role in the creation of history.
