During Costley's time at Trinity, he set the most carries, most yards, and most touchdowns records for a single game. He has since been moved around but is still present on each list. His personal bests were: 32 carries vs. Southwest Texas (1970), 274 yards vs. East Central Oklahoma (1973), and 5 touchdowns vs. Monterrrey Tech (1973).
