Gathering the information from the factors of matriculation as well as the historical context of Trinity athletics, this enables the conversation to come to an interesting conclusion. Andrew argues that tradition and culture play an intricate part in the decision prospective students have (2016). Similarly, Doyle states that awards and merits increase the reputation of the institution or program (1990). Considering the information supplied in regard to Yong et. al. stating that athletics and academics have a dependent relationship and are able to complement or diminish recruiting effectiveness in a like manner, there is much evidence that the SCAC President’s Trophy did, in fact, have a significant influence on the institution of Trinity as a collective (2018).

Exploring the physical evidence in Trinity records as well as through interviews with various individuals who experienced the shift firsthand. Coach Steve Mohr stated in an interview that “athletes at Trinity collectively came together to achieve this award annually and it was a sight to witness by all means” (2020). Mohr went on to say he, “was able to use our athletic culture to leverage Trinity in the recruiting process. I believe this helped us land some athletes that went under the radar of bigger schools” (2020).
