Reflection

What did you enjoy about this project?

This project was different than any I've ever had at Trinity in the sense that I had to dig into the archives, which was honestly pretty interesting. I learned a lot about a subject I previously knew very little about which was probably my favorite part.

What surprised you about this project?

Just how much information was actually available through the databases. Also, I seriously underestimated how much time it would take to sift through old articles and find good information.

What was the most challenging aspect of the project, and how did you manage it?

Streamlining my actual topic and time management were my biggest challenges. I had to really sit down and decide the direction I was going to take and schedule chunks of time devoted to research.

If you could start over, what would you do differently?

I would be much more proactive with scheduling interviews and try to get ahead before the season and semester really picked up.

What did you learn about history and/or the historical process through this project?

I obviously learned a lot about Trinity's tennis history. In addition to this I also just got a lot better at analyzing old events and applying new points of view.

What did you learn through this project that can be applied to life outside the classroom?

Well first of all I can now wow people with knowledge of early to mid 1980's Trinity Women's Tennis. But, I learned a lot about how much old events influence what occurs today, and I plan on learning much more about Trinity's history.
