Dick Stockton Biography

Dick Stockton was born in New York, New York as Richard LaClede Stockton in 1951. He grew up playing tennis and competed at his first national tournament at the age of twelve. He had continued success in his young career and eventually became the number one player in the country for his age group. He began to be recruited by college coaches by attending national tennis camps and tournaments across the country.

Knowledge of the Trinity program came pretty early on as his older brother played at Corpus Christi and had matches against Trinity often. Bob McKinley, a teammate of Stockton’s at Trinity, was a childhood friend growing up. He had an older brother who preceded him at Trinity and was a well-known player for the Tigers. 

Dick Stockton won a national championship with the Tigers and pursued a career on the professional tennis circuit. He racked up a total of eight titles and finished with a world ranking of eighth overall. 

He is currently married to his wife, Liz Stockton and lives in Florida.
