Making Progress: The Goal of a Varsity Team Remains

David Apel’s departure from Trinity did not signal the end of the club team he had founded. A student named Ken Louis had taken over after Apel left with hopes to keep the club team alive and continue the process of getting cross country recognized as a varsity sport by Trinity’s athletic department (Crow, 1987). Once again it seems that student action was the force behind any progress being made to make an intercollegiate cross country team a reality at Trinity.
