Pioneers in Women's Bowling

The third factor is that there were a few notable female players that could be considered as pioneers in Trinity University’s Women’s Bowling program. One of the earliest known female bowler to play for Trinity was Wendy Martin. Since there was not enough interested women to create a women’s bowling team, Wendy played on the men’s team. She was the only woman playing on the team and could participate in conference meets as the rules did not state any restrictions regarding a bowler’s sex. Her participation in the bowling program could have sparked an increase of interest from potential women bowlers. One of these later women bowlers achieved many accomplishments that brought much attention to women’s bowling at Trinity. Her name is Julie Roba.
