Title IX

Second is that Title IX was passed in 1972 which began to change school athletics across the nation. A direct result of this is that there were more collegiate sports available for women. Of course, Trinity had almost always openly allowed for the addition of a women’s bowling team since the existence of their bowling alley but it is more than likely that an indirect effect of Title IX help start the women’s team. It is possible that more women began to participate in sports therefore increasing the number of women willing to bowl. This specific legislature started a change in the public’s attitude towards women participating in athletics and so created an environment where women felt encouraged to play sports.
