TU Baseball Team Feautring Former Players

Throughout my research I was able to conduct three interviews with the head coach, Coach Scannell along with two former players Patrick Layng 99' and Cameron Hill 99'. In this section you will be able to view the interviews and get a first hand account of former players and their perspective on baseball throughout the years. In the interview with Coach Scannell, you will be able to read answers form a great coach, who has maintained a powerhouse program.

Before jumping into the interviews here is what Patrick Layng and Cameron Hill had to say about Coach Scannell:

Patrick Layng:

“Coach Scannell is a ‘Players Coach’ what I mean by that is we all liked playing for him and respected his knowledge of the game. He has clearly been good for the baseball program at Trinity. Just look at the number of championships his teams have won including a National Championship (Layng, 2018).

Cameron Hill:

“Coach Scannell is one of a kind. He has a fabulous depth of understanding in his field. He is able to teach and mentor the players in a way that, they understand the point, and so they value the teaching moment.  He doesn’t over coach. He is firm when needed, but he is naturally funny, so there is a humor that cuts the edge. It really works. And it’s great for baseball in particular. My experience playing for Coach Scannell was life changing.  He was able to pull the very best out of me.  I don’t think I even knew how good I could be until my time at Trinity.  And the players he recruits are very likeminded. Very goal oriented and competitive. Winning mattered then and it matters now. I think that is the greatest reflection on any coach in any sport. Make the experience meaningful for your players. He does that" (Hill, 2018).
