Cameron Hill

Below is an interview that I conducted to gain inisght into Cameron Hill's baseball career. Cameron Hill is now currently the head women's basketball coach.

1.) Where are you from? How long did you play baseball? What got you into baseball?

I am from San Antonio, TX.  I played baseball for most of my life. I got into it and fell in love with it playing little league.

2.) What made you choose to play baseball at Trinity?

I came to Trinity because of the academic opportunity and the quality of the program.

3.) What position did you play here at Trinity?

The positions I played were, first base and center field.

4.) What kind of bat did you use to hit with? If you used different bats which one did you prefer to use and why?

We all used aluminum. The bat that I used was an Easton, 34.

5.) Did you have any game day superstitions? If so explain what they were and did any of them involve your baseball bat or being on deck?

I did not have any real superstitions when I played baseball here at Trinity.

6.) Over the years how have you seen batter’s ability to hit the ball change with regulations on bats and the 2011 implementation of the BBCOR test? Why do you think these regulations were made by the NCAA?

I think it is really two fold, the emphasis on weight lifting is a huge part, and year round play. Kids are seeing better pitching, more often, and the overall reps of the game have helped. The bats are actually being made to limit the “pop” they have. But the balls are being made to have more “juice” so you make the call.

7.) Would you be a supporter of the NCAA only allowing wooden bats to be used by baseball players? Why or why not?

I would support the NCAA doing so. I love swinging wood.

8.) Either having kids that play baseball or coaching baseball how have you seen the game change offensively since you played, does that bat play a major role?

I do have kids playing and the bats are not a huge factor.

9.) Do you feel that batting regulations and bats having to pass tests are hurting baseball or helping baseball?

It would help if, once the players get to a certain age, that they had to swing wood.

10.) Do you think your teams here at Trinity had a better offensive game then teams after? Why or why not?

No. The teams now hit much better, particularly throughout the line up. Lots of big bats.

11.) Do you think the game of baseball has changed, not just here at Trinity but in general? Explain why or why not?

Not really. It is and will continue to be the most consistent sport we have.  It is awesome and will always be awesome.
