Coach McGinlay is from Corby, England and he has done a fantastic job recruiting international players. He spends time abroad recruiting, which is a major part of his strategy, but it can be tough because he has to keep in mind the changes of exchange rates, so that Trinity is not to expensive for players.

Kinesiology and Sport scholars discussed the cross cultural adjustments in international collegiate athletics in their article which stated “universities in the United States are recruiting large numbers of international student-athletes, making it increasingly important to understand what adjustments these students go through and how they perceive their experiences” (Popp, 2010, 177). With McGinlay’s background, he understands the adjustments his players will go through here at Trinity and does a great job assisting them in this major transition.

In 1998, the team started traveling to compete internationally, which demonstrates the well rounded experience Coach McGinlay is providing to his athletes by immersing them in different cultures and playing styles. This also provides his international players with areas and backgrounds that may be more familiar to them.
