90's - The Rise of "Soccer"

Now onto the 90’s, soccer was the sport that had the most minority participation and that is because many more individuals of all ethnic groups were playing this sport after the exposure they had to it in the 1994 World Cup hosted by the United States. While, he did not face as many challenges as the previous student-athletes, he did face the challenge of being an all-around person considering all the academic demands Trinity has and the demands from the athletic programs themselves. In this Trinitonian publication from  November 1996, which was one of Jaime Ramirez’s years in which he played soccer for Trinity. In here it shows that he was a first team conference player. That means that he was really good in his position that year. The next year he would go and be the captain for the team which is a reward for his hard work. While I was not able to get an interview from him, he was definitely influential in the history of Trinity sports as he not only was the team captain, but he helped set up the leaders who would then go on and have a direct effect on the national team that the soccer team had in 2003.
