1974: The Season of Success

Duncan Pringle, a football kicker who also played on the rugby team, runs with the ball.

Tim Fried, Clyde Yancey, and Duncan Pringle founded a new team in 1974 . Tim Fried, a New Zealander, convinced the other two to adopt the name and colors of the New Zealand national team, the All Blacks. This was described by Yancey as "a mistake," because the black colors and the texas heat did mix. The team recruited through word of mouth.

The 1974 team achieved substantial success. Although they lost their first game to a San Antonio team, they went on a run that included beating the Austin Black and Gold, which secured the team a spot in the Texas Rugby Union Second Side Central Division Championship as well as a slot in the state playoffs in May.

This team disbanded at some point during the 1976 school year, after two years of playing.
