Reflection

What did you enjoy about this project?

I've loved reconnecting with past Trinity rugby players during the course of my research. Because of this project, the rugby team is now connected with enough alumni that we are starting an alumni newsletter. I have also really enjoyed being able to research and write about a topic I am interested in.

What surprised you about this project?

The biggest surprise to me was how much history Trinity has with rugby. Up until the makiong of this project, the modern team and I were under the impression that we were the first team on campus.

What was the most challenging aspect of the project, and how did you manage it?

Finding sources was definitely challenging. I didn't want to rely too heavily on the Trinitonian, but it was hard to get in contact with players from the past.

If you could start over, what would you do differently?

I would have pursued a few more avenues of contacting people. For example, I have just recently found out that several members of the San Antonio Rugby Club are former trinity students and players. It's a route I didn't even think to pursue.
What did you learn about history and/or the historical process through this project?

I leqrned about how subjective parts of history can be. Between mine and Manny Menezes report on the same topic, there are substantive differences, and this is because peoples perceptions and memories are not objective.

What did you learn through this project that can be applied to life outside the classroom?

I think the interpersonal relations has been super valuable. Putting myself out there and getting in contact with people using a variety of strategies that I had never even thought of before this class.
