Post-Reagan Christian Right Decline

During this time, the majority Christian organizations in the United States were also experiencing decline, with many, like the Moral Majority, losing donations. Ronald Reagan was the champion of the Republican party  and had been president from 1981 to 1989. Because of this tenure, most Conservative donors considered the country in much better shape than it had been in previously, and therefore found no reason to keep donating (Wilcox, 1996). This was also felt on Trinity’s campus as FCA numbers also fell, with a small attempt made in 1992 to reorganize, with tennis coach Butch Newman, as the sponsor.
