National Recognition

Potter is known as the “Father of Intramurals” at Trinity for a good reason (Keep, 2013). He expanded Trinity’s program to be one of the best in the nation. He not only made contributions to the intramurals at Trinity, but those at every campus as well. Potter received several national awards from the National Intramural Recreational Sports Association for outstanding service to Region IV and to the Trinity campus and community (Coach, 1991). As well as receiving national awards, Potter was a member of the committee that drafted and created the official rules for intramural flag football across the nation (Potter’s efforts, 1991). When I spoke to Potter about his role in creating these rules he said that making a uniformed rule book was extremely vital. He claimed “developing this rule book was one of my proudest accomplishments” (Personal Interview, 2018). It is clear his impacts go far beyond Trinity University.
