Title: Gammas vs. Spurs, a Gamma and a Spur meet for a coin toss in the 1989 IM championship. Creator: Chris Hart. Date: 1989, November 3.

The revival of the intramural department in the 80s aligned with the rise of the popularity of Greek life at Trinity during the same time period; perhaps this is the reason as to why the two extracurricular activities tended to overlap. Old copies of The Trinitonian, Trinity’s student-led print newspaper, showed Greek life’s level of involvement with intramural sports in weekly articles titled “The Intramural Scoreboard”, and each week, the school was updated on the scores from all of the intramural games. Advertisements by Coors Light were printed in each copy of The Trinitonian in the early 1980s, and each “intramural team of the week” was a Greek affiliated organization, such as the Chi Delta Tau fraternity, Bengal Lancer fraternity, or Gamma Chi Delta sorority. By providing stories and photographs of Greek members playing intramural sports, The Trinitonian places the historical importance of the intersection of Greek life and intramurals on clear display.
