Above is a write-up of Dick Stockton's achievments as a Trinity Tiger.

When Dick Stockton joined Trinity in 1969, he made it to the fourth round of the championship tournament. Each year Stockton continued to improve and make it further and further in the tournament. When Stockton first came to Trinity, he knew about UCLA and USC winning the championship for the passed 13 years. Perhaps the biggest wake up call to Stockton and the team was when they flew out to UCLA in 1970 and got smoked. The result of his success can be attributed to his coach Clarence Mabry and also his teammates. He made it clear that the reason why players (including himself) such as McKinley, Gottfried, Gerken, etc. were so successful was because they were constantly practicing against each other everyday.Practices were always competitive but fun as everyone on the team hated losing especially to each other. This only better prepared them particularly when it was time to compete against other schools (personal interview).
