In this picture are some of the players when they came back for an old timers vs current players game.

In 1972, the Tigers finished 16th in the nation, a year when Arizona State and USC finished in the top 2 ("1972 NCAA University Division baseball rankings," 2017). The fact that Trinity was close to powerhouses like those is crazy to think about. Over the course of the season, they won 22 games in a row at one point ("Bengals Wind Up with 22 Straight," 1972). From the players that I talked to, some say the streak was one of their favorite memories of their time at Trinity (Batista, 2018; Hermes, 2018; Mahler, 2018). Since the Tigers were facing good teams, they faced future stars, including MLB Hall of Famer Dave Winfield and MLB All Star Ron Guidry (Mahler, 2018). Aside from the players that went on to play professional ball, the team still had great players. Some of these players have been enshrined in Trinity's Sport Hall of Fame.
