1972 Team

As mentioned before, the 1972 team was filled with great players and they finished very high in the college rankings. Their schedule included games against: Pan American, Baylor, Louisiana Tech, Air Force, Rice, UT Arlington, Lamar and Arkansas State. All of those schools are currently Division 1 programs and some are very prominent baseball teams. In the playoffs, they lost to the University of Texas. To this day, the players remember the 14 inning game against the Longhorns, but not all for good reasons. For example, Bubba Hermes said that he still dislikes the school because of how rude their fan base and student body was when they played each other (Hermes, 2018). At the end of the season, the Tigers finished with a 32-8 record (The 1972 Trinity Baseball Team, n.d).
