Intro Page

During this era, the Trinity baseball team competed at the top level of college baseball. They were led by Trinity Hall of Fame head coach Houston Wheeler and a slew of players who had dominant careers at Trinity, and some in the pros. The Trinity lifestyle was a lot different in the 70s, but some was the same. As a program, it was able to offer scholarships to its athletes and therefore compete with the big schools like Texas. However, the scholarships were taken away due to the President wanting all students to be on an equal pay scale. If this did not happen, the program could be at a totally different level than it is today. This exhibit will paint a picture of the players, coach and all around team atmosphere during the early 1970s for the baseball team at Trinity.
