Impact on Grades

Bega stated the only times he made the Deans List was during Fall semesters.  He was unable to make the Dean’s List during the Spring semester because of the extra travel and time away from campus.

When I asked King about whether or not the excessive out of state traveling by the baseball team during the season affected their grades, he contradicted what Bega recalled.  He believes there was no significant difference between the GPAs of athletes and regular students. Perhaps his assessment was taken from looking at GPAs across all athletes as a whole, and not necessarily just the baseball team.  Or perhaps he was not specifically comparing the differences between GPAs from the Fall semesters and the Spring semesters.  Nonetheless, he could not dispute the additional travel caused the baseball players to miss more class time and instruction than regular students.
