Reflections

What did you enjoy about this product?

I really enjoyed completing this project because it allowed me to learn about the history of Trinity athletics, which is something interesting to me.  Research projects in the past have often been not very engaging for me as they are not topics that interest me.

What surprised you about the project?

I was surprised that all the current members of the SCAC were formally NAIA schools.  When I learned that Trinity was the only Division III school in Texas, I guess I assumed that all the schools were formed and initially in Division III, not that they all existed previously in other divisions.

What was the most challenging aspect of this project and how did you manage it?

The most challenging aspect was getting an interview with Bob King. His receptionist was very insistant on trying to get me to interview someone else, as well as not replying to my emails. I was forced to go into her office three times in person to finally get the interview with was integral to my project.  When I finally did get an interview, it was very educational and helpful.

If you could start over what would you do differently?

I would get my interviews done earlier in the process. With waiting so long to complete my interview with Dr. King, I did not know really what to look for in primary and secondary sources and it made the last couple weeks of the project very hectic.

What did you learn through this project that can be applied to life outside the classroom?

It was very helpful to conduct an interviews beacuse this was somehting I have never done before this project. Interviews are a large part of how it is the "real world," and the more I become used to these situations, the better I will be in whatever profession I choose.
